The Omnia

Zermatt, Switzerland

In the glamorous swiss ski resort of Zermatt it's all about the mountains. Whether people climb them, ski down them or simply gaze at them. The majestic Matterhorn, Europe's most recognizable peak is the centerpiece of life in this car-free village. Our pick is the THE OMNIA, contemporary interpretation of the traditional mountain lodge. Here in the Swiss Alps, the mountain lodge, a quintessentially American concept, has been reinvented for its European environment by the New York based architect Ali Tayar (1959 – 2016). THE OMNIA, with its one-of-a-kind location, interior design, fine cuisine, comprehensive wellness program and the people who stand behind it, strives to create an environment for complete moments of peace, in harmony with nature. THE OMNIA is the fusion of many different elements and influences, creating a single harmonious whole.

Hotel guide

Facilities

  • 30 rooms including 12 suites, a library and a restaurant with fireplaces, a lounge bar, a boardroom, a cavern and two sun decks high above the roofs of Zermatt – with the Matterhorn practically next door
  • Aesop cosmetic care products are available
  • All rooms and suites include a minibar, complementary wireless LAN internet access, LCD screen TV, a sound system, safe and telephone. DVD players, movies and music are available upon request

Our Favourite

  • The hotel lies in the centre of Zermatt, high on a rock, 45 meters above the roofs of the town. Passing through a tunnel, guests come to an elevator rising up through the rock, which brings them to the lobby at 1,649.4 meters above sea level

Wine & Dine

  • An elaborate breakfast buffet awaits hotel guests in THE OMNIA’s spacious restaurant. Later in the day and for dinner, the restaurant is open to outside guests as well as guests of the hotel. Executive Chef Hauke Pohl is a master of his art: the art of setting the perfect stage for the synergies of different tastes and thus for the authenticity of local Alpine and seasonal quality products. Pur, uncomplicated, modern – often with a twist and flavourful nuances of faraway places. Experience the culinary interpretations of the lodges’ philosophy where ever you feel most comfortable – on the sun terrace, in the lobby, in the boardroom, or in your spacious room, of course.

Wellness

  • In- / outdoor pool, a Finnish sauna, a Turkish bath, caldarium, flower steam room, a relax room and an outdoor Jacuzzi with a view of the Matterhorn. A fitness room with state-of-the-art equipment from Technogym and two massage rooms
