The estate of Monaci delle Terre Nere is situated along the slopes of mount etna, the biggest volcano in europe, on the border of the Etna national park at 500m above sea level and within easy reach to the beaches and glorious taormina. Way more than the usual boutique hotel, Monaci delle Terre Nere is a time capsule of preserved historic identity and local tradition. The house dates back to 1800, and is listed as one of the regions historically important buildings. It is now a place where traditional sicilian architecture is combined with contemporary art and living. The owner of the estate grows his own vines, olives, fruits, herbs and vegetables which is all served in the hotel's own restaurant.
