Facilities

  • Oak floors, tiles and fine materials such as Italian Travertino Classico marble feature in the renovated rooms and suites. The combination of hand-blown Murano glass lamps, a series of specially designed copper lamps and other design objects throughout the hotel, creates an atmosphere that exudes Silent Luxury, the Garberhof’s new concept. It is the art of simplicity and silence that creates a world of tranquillity, passion and pleasure. Each room, suite and chalet is a homage to the art of welcoming, elegantly reflecting the beauty of Venosta’s nature. All rooms are suitable for allergy sufferers as all of them dispose of a wooden or cork floor.
  • Free Wi-Fi in each room, suite and chalet.

Design & Architecture

  • Natural, sustainable materials played an important role in the major renovation, which was carried out together with Munich-based architecture firm Lang Hugger Rampp and regional partners. Garberhof preserves the values of the past and opens up to innovation, forming a harmonious blend, which gives the hotel a brand-new form of splendour. With a focus on the architectural history of Val Venosta, begun over 1000 years ago, we have developed the structure with care and sensibility, paying homage to local natural materials and clean lines, expressing a link with the South Tyrolean peasant and crafts tradition and with the majestic Alps.

Wellness & Spa

  • The renovated spa, with different treatment rooms, features clay plaster and wood-panelled walls, which together with contrasting black steel elements, transform the 2,200m² wellness area into a temple of contemporary well-being. In addition to the heated indoor and outdoor pools and sauna, two special highlights await you here: you can experience oriental bathing culture in Italy's largest hotel hammam, or in the organic pond, set in the wellness garden with wooden walkways, and reflecting the surrounding rugged mountains. Val Venosta apricots used for the Prunus Armeniaca cosmetic line also come from the area. With a relaxing beauty treatment, the skin is cleansed, soothed, nourished and optimally prepared for activities in the harsh winter air.

Wine & Dine

  • At Garberhof, the pleasure of the palate arises from fresh local and seasonal ingredients, which chef Christian Lechthaler and his kitchen brigade turn into imaginative creations, especially at dinner, with a five- or six-course gourmet menu of your choice. These are accompanied by wines from their well-stocked cellar.
  • Fine wines are also available in the 1981 Lounge Bar, renovated in winter 2022 and featuring a crackling fireplace, cosy armchairs and a beamed ceiling supported by V-shaped wooden pillars. A wide choice ranges from cocktails to 80 types of gin are offered here.

Local Guide

Location & Setting

  • Between landscapes in bloom, colourful forests or snowy slopes, Malles and the Val Venosta are the ideal setting for hikes and adventures of all kinds in nature, in every season.

Hiking

  • A Hike to the Slingia hut. The Slingia hut is located at 1,868 metres above sea level in the Sesvenna mountain group. From the large car park at the entrance to the village of Slingia, you can reach the hut either on foot or by bike. There is a wonderful panoramic view of the valley to the east and a mighty mountain called the black wall with its waterfall to the west. Let yourself be spoilt by the hut cuisine. The Slingia hut also offers one of the best alpine cheeses in the Upper Venosta Valley. Opening hours: End of May to the beginning of November and mid-December to mid-April.

  • The Owner's Insider Tip: Hike even further to the less-visited Sesvenna hut. The wide path leads into the valley to the Inner hut. It then becomes narrower and climbs steeply up to the crossing at the Black Wall. Above the impressive cliff, you reach the beautiful alpine meadows and hike over to the cosy Sesvenna hut (2,262 m). The Sesvenna hut is located in a beautiful spot between the Engadin and the Venosta Valley. It offers easy, family-friendly access and is known above all for its excellent cuisine. There are many great hiking peaks in the surrounding area and even an easy high-altitude tour with the Piz Sesvenna (3,205 m).

Winter Activites

  • Ski: Between Ortles and the Resia Pass, the Watles, Solda and Belpiano-Malga San Valentino ski areas, are all within easy reach. The ski resort with 300 kilometres of state-of-the-art ski runs and lifts, offers a unique skiing experience in stunning scenery, with snow-covered ski runs from November to May.

  • Cross-country: You will find countless paths near the hotel. Explore the Vallelunga or Slingia valley or even cross the border to reach the Nauders resort in Austria.

  • The owner's tip: If you love speed, try Nordic skating, electrifying rhythmic tours on skis, or try your hand at ice sailing on Lake Resia. For those who dream of an impressive night-time experience, there is nothing better than a moonlight sledging trip.

How to Get There

  • The closest international airport is Innsbruck, a 2 hour drive away, where flights arrive directly from major cities in Europe. But if you’re flying from within Italy, or Berlin, Dusseldorf, or Ibiza, you can catch a seasonal SkyAlps flight to Bolzano Airport – a 1.15 hour-minute drive away.
  • You are welcome to charge your e-car at their charging station for a fee.
